Police are reportedly investigating the matter
Andrey Arshavin is not dead. Let’s make this point very clear from the start. The former Arsenal midfielder is now 37 years of age and retired from professional football but still very much in the land of the living. Nope, you haven’t missed anything.
Despite that, a story from Russia claims that a man is being haunted by an Arshavin-like ghost in one of Moscow’s suburbs. Yes, really.
The story has been picked up by The Moscow Times having originally surfaced with the Ren-TV broadcaster on Tuesday. It claims that the victim – who has not been named – has been visited by a figure “closely resembling” Arshavin in Lobnya, situated just north of the Russian capital.
The ‘ghost’ has the ability to pass through walls and is said to have attacked the man and stolen his money. The report claims that police are now investigating the complaint which, to be quite honest, is absolutely fucking ridiculous.
Still-alive Arshavin joined Arsenal from Zenit Saint Petersburg in 2009. He returned there three years later before calling time on his playing days in 2018 after spells with Kuban Krasnodar and, finally, Kazakhstani side, Kairat.
He, along with his ghost, are yet to make any comment on the story.
