What. A. Hit.
Juan Agudelo scored an absolute peach of a goal for New England Revolution against DC United in the MLS play-offs that will no doubt be a contender for Fifa’s Puskas Award.
As the ball was floated over from just outside the right corner of the penalty area, it curved high and behind Agudelo who was marked by two defenders.
But instead of letting the ball continue on its skewed trajectory and chase after it, the American leapt in the air and produced a quite stunning overhead kick to thwack the ball to the keeper’s left…
This is a world class finish from @JuanAgudelo. #MLSCupPlayoffs https://t.co/v79hPqrIOa

As well as being dumbstruck by Agudelo’s acrobatics, audacity and technique, we couldn’t help but feel we’d seen it somewhere before. Then it struck us – Rooney’s dramatic effort versus Man City in 2011.
Whisper it around Old Trafford, but the main difference seems to be that the American didn’t shin it.
