He’s best known for playing Pat Mustard
Father Ted co-creator Graham Linehan has confirmed that actor Pat Laffan has passed away.
For many Father Ted fans, Laffan will always be remembered for his beloved role as the milkman Pat Mustard.
Before establishing himself as an actor, Laffan grew up on a farm in County Meath, Ireland and joined the Abbey Theatre in Dublin immediately after he graduated from university.
In the early 1970s, Laffan returned to the Abbey after a stint in London where he became close friends with another actor, Colm Meaney.

Both men would later star in the adaptation of Irish author Roddy Doyle’s beloved book, The Snapper.
For comedy fans, Laffan will likely be best remembered for his portrayal of milkman Pat Mustard in the legendary Irish comedy series Father Ted.
Though he only appeared in just one episode – Speed 3, in season three of the show – Laffan’s portrayal of the lothario milkman hell bent on gaining revenge against the titular character has gone down as one of the best cameo performances in comedy history.
Just heard the sad news that Pat Laffan who played Pat Mustard in Father Ted has died. Rest in peace, Pat, a pleasure to work with you. https://t.co/ej9ZnsPlv0
