The two had a civilised discussion about the #MeToo movement as part of Letterman’s Netflix series
Kanye West featured on Season 2 of the Netflix series My Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman, in an extremely interesting interview.
The conversation between the two covers a number of topics, including Kanye’s relationship with his parents, his family, his music, and his mental health.
One of the topics covered by the two is the #MeToo movement, as Kanye referenced a “fear” that men have felt since it began.
He said he felt that men are forced to ask themselves “What did I do over the past 30 years of my life?”, to determine if they’ve ever behaved inappropriately.
Letterman responded to Kanye’s comments by saying “Well, you mention a general fear of the male side of this situation. I would submit that it’s not equal by any equation to the fear women feel being the other side of that.”
And the conversation didn’t end there.
Kanye said: “I’m definitely supportive of the women. What I’m saying is we’re not allowed to have any conversation. When you go to court, both sides can talk. This is a court of public opinion, that when someone bombs first, the war is supposedly over.”
It is a fascinating interview from start to finish.
