Netflix has launched a free section of shows that you don’t have to subscribe to watch

Think of it as a free sample

Netflix has launched a new collection where you can watch some of their shows for free, without a subscription.

Obviously, don’t go into this expecting to get their whole library for nowt. It is more like when they give away little free samples in supermarkets to try and get you to buy more. But just like in a supermarket, there is nothing to stop you taking all the free stuff and then running off.

Most of the free offerings are just episodes of TV shows – so you can watch the first episode of Stranger Things, but if you want to find out what happens next, you’ve got to fork up the cash.

However, there are some entire movies on there, which you can watch completely free. There is the Sandra Bullock-starring horror Bird Box, which launched a ton of memes when it debuted in 2018.

There is also the actually-pretty-good (no, really) Adam Sandler/Jennifer Aniston comedy Murder Mystery, and the Oscar-nominated drama The Two Popes starring Anthony Hopkins and Jonathan Pryce.

At present, the shows you can get a taste of include sitcom Grace and Frankie, nature show Our Planet, trashy reality hit Love Is Blind, steamy drama Elite, hard-hitting documentary series When They See Us, and best of all, Boss Baby: Back In Business, the spin-off from the animated kids movie. Can’t believe they’re giving that gold away for free.

You can watch the shows and movies over on Netflix right now. You don’t need to login or anything.

Netflix do say the collection of shows and movies available for free may change over time, so it is probably best to watch the things you want to see sooner rather than later. Or, you know, just get a Netflix subscription like the rest of the population.
