Spoons is set to reopen

Wetherspoons has confirmed that almost 400 of its branches will reopen on April 12th.

Under the terms of Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s roadmap out of lockdown, restrictions on outdoor hospitality are set to be lifted no earlier than April 12th.

In line with this, pub giants JD Wetherspoon intend to open beer gardens, rooftop gardens and patios at 394 of its pubs in England.

As with the previous lifting of lockdown last summer, Wetherspoons will reopen under a strict set of guidelines.

  • Pub beer gardens will be open from 9am to 9pm on Sunday to Thursday
  • Hours are slightly extended on Friday and Saturday, 9am to 10pm
  • Some individual branches may adopt separate restrictions and closing times
  • Food will be served seven days a week, albeit with a reduced menu

Should you venture down to your local Spoons for a post-lockdown pint, you’ll have the option of paying via the Wetherspoons app – or paying by card at your table.

A test and trace system will again be implemented, and you’ll be allowed indoors to use the toilet.

JD Wetherspoon own and operate some 750 pubs in England, and the company’s hierarchy says it is looking forward to reopening to the public.

Chief executive John Hutson said: “We are looking forward to welcoming our customers and staff back to our pubs.”
