Reports claim DMX is in a grave condition after an overdose triggered a heart attack
DMX has reportedly been taken to hospital in New York where he is in a critical state following an overdose.
According to TMZ, the rapper overdosed at around 11pm on Friday night at his home. Sources told the outlet that this triggered a heart attack.
The 50-year-old is said to have been rushed to hospital in White Plains soon after and remains in a critical care unit.
While TMZ report they have been informed he has “some brain activity”, their report also quotes a separate source who warns DMX, real name Earl Simmons, is in a “vegetative state” and that doctors have said he may not pull through.
DMX rose to fame in the 1990s and 2000s. As well as rapping, he also appeared in several films, including Romeo Must Die (2000) and Exit Wounds (2001).
The TMZ report details how he returned to the stage in Las Vegas in 2019 following the completion of a 12-month prison sentence for tax evasion and a spell in rehab.
