Workers found bones on an estate nearby.
Human remains have been found near Harry and Meghan’s £11 million mansion in Los Angeles, according to reports.
The Sun reports that workers who were doing landscaping on an estate just yards from the Sussex’s lavish property found bones there. The landscapers immediately stopped their work and called the police. They were working at an estate in Riven Rock Road in Montecito, California, just 350 yards from Harry and Meghan’s property.
It is not yet clear who owns the property on which the bones were found.
The remains are apparently an incomplete skeleton and could belong to a Native American who lived in the area centuries ago. A forensic anthropologist called in by the police will be able to establish the exact age of the remains though, but it is thought to be the remains of a member of the Chumash tribe who lived in the region from around 700AD.
A source said: “Work stopped right away on the property and the cops were called in.
“It’s quite a lot of drama for a place like Montecito.”
Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Raquel Zick confirmed the discovery was not connected with the royals.
If the remains are not old though, then an investigation will begin.
“We will have to get out our magnifying glasses,” she added.
Having previously lived in Beverly Hills, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle bought their current home in Montecito last summer. It’s an exclusive area, which counts the like of Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres as some of its other residents.
