This is either bad news or very bad news for Rafa Benitez.
Real Madrid announced on Monday morning that they will hold a press conference in the evening. This after Los Blancos were outplayed and thrashed 4-0 on the own turf by a rampant Barcelona.
“President of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, will appear today before the media at the Bernabeu at 19:30 [local time] after the meeting of the Board,” said the official communication. That’s 6.30pm UK time.
The Spanish press have been scathing of Benitez and his President after the El Clasico crappy show, and Perez will not appreciate the unwelcome criticism…

The press conference is likely to relay one of two things: either Rafa Benitez will be relieved of his duties as Head Coach at the Bernabeu, or he will be given the dreaded vote of confidence.
Note: Madrid president Florentino Pérez gave unconditional support to both Mourinho and Ancelotti at press conferences.

And be assured – at Real Madrid, a vote of confidence really is a dreadful thing. The club taking the trouble to officially congregate the press and formally express backing for the manager is seen as damning, and the beginning of the end.
For now, Benitez will have to sit tight and be the fat Spanish waiter.
