Chris Eubank’s son Sebastian dies in Dubai, aged 29

Danny Jones

The legendary British boxer’s eldest son was found days before his 30th birthday

Chris Eubank’s third-eldest child, Sebastian, has died aged just 29 in Dubai, where he had been building a life with his friends over the past few years, according to his father.

The Eubank family are understandably “devastated”, as it was learned that his body was found washed up on a beach in Dubai after having died from drowning. His brother, Chris Eubank Jr has uploaded several posts remembering his younger brother, saying that he “cried the whole day” since learning of his passing.

He also went on to add: “Now your legacy will live on through your beautiful newborn son & I will treat him like my own. Watch over us until we meet again young lion”. Sebastian Eubank is not only survived by his immediate family, but he also leaves behind his wife Salma and his aforementioned son, Raheem, who was born only a month ago. Heartbreaking.

As for his father, Chris Eubank Sr said: “Never did I ever imagine I would write these words or experience the feeling I now have at the loss of my son. My family and I are devastated to hear of the death of Sebastian just days before what would have been his 30th birthday”.

He went on to pay tribute to his son in a truly beautiful statement, his words being as eloquent and emotive as ever:

“Sebastian grew up in Hove in England but in the last few years made his life in Dubai where he had a wide circle of friends and was a leader in the adoption of a healthy lifestyle and of alternative therapies.

As well as being a personal trainer and professional boxer, Sebastian was also a deep thinker who liked to challenge accepted wisdom.

He was loved and respected by all who knew him and will be forever in the thoughts of friends and family. As a family, we now kindly ask to be given space and privacy to celebrate his life and remember the son, the brother, the husband, the friend.”

Tributes are pouring from all over the boxing world and beyond, of course, with another life gone too soon in tragic circumstances. Chris Eubank Jr’s final post summing things up perfectly:

Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
