Journalist receives heat for suggesting Jamie Vardy should be sacked for being racist

Liew explains his case

Not everyone wants to join the Jamie Vardy party.

The Leicester City striker is the talk of the Premier League at the moment after his record-breaking season.

Vardy scored in his 11th successive league game for Leicester in their clash against Manchester United on Saturday, which saw him surpass a record previously held by Ruud van Nistelrooy  The fact that he has risen through the ranks from non-League to top flight is also a pretty remarkable story.

However, Daily Telegraph journalist Jonathan Liew wasn’t so keen on celebrating the Vardy party after the game on Saturday.

Liew was referencing a video that emerged earlier this year which showed Vardy allegedly racially abusing an Asian man in a casino by repeatedly calling him “Jap”.

The journalist received a lot of flak on Twitter over his comment, which spurred him to explain his reasoning behind it in a lengthy Facebook post which you can read in full below.
