The Simpson‘s already did it
You’re not gonna believe this (you totally are) but people reckon The Simpsons predicted yet another real-world event and this time in the UK. Sort of.
As it always does, a clip of the iconic animated show starting doing the rounds on social media in the wake of recent headlines and everyone suddenly put two and two together: the oracle that is The Simpsons predicted the ongoing fuel shortage in the UK.

This admittedly short clip is taken from episode five of season 22 entitled: ‘Lisa Simpson, This Isn’t Your Life‘, which aired back in November 2010. Like most episodes, it’s worth going back and watching – but the rough background surrounding the clip is that Homer needs to buy 1,000 gallons of gasoline in order to purchase special promotional toys for Maggie.
However, we’re not going to pretend that the show’s uncanny habit of seemingly predicting almost every major event for the last 30 or so years extends to just UK-specific occurrences.
In fact, this same clip had already been re-circulated earlier this year when America had their own issue with fuel shortages and panic buying. As people noted then, this is by no means the first time this has happened and unfortunately probably won’t be the last – but it’s still mad how this keeps on happening.
It’s almost like one of the most influential and revered shows of all time does socio-political commentary really well, init? Jokes aside, we do wonder just how many times this has actually happened now.
