Andy Murray in the ‘bad books’ after his wedding ring and tennis shoes get nicked

‘Needless to say I’m in the bad books at home’

Andy Murray has landed himself in a bit of hot water at home after having his wedding ring “stolen”.

Currently training in California ahead of the Indian Wells Masters, the Scot explained his predicament on Instagram, writing: “Got a quick story here for you that I need a little bit of help with.”

The 34-year-old went on to explain how he had left his trainers outside overnight to try and dry them out. But when he went to get them the next morning, they were gone. Initially, he thought this wasn’t a big deal, describing it as “not the end of the world.”

However, he had forgotten that he ties his wedding ring to his laces while training and playing.

It was only when his physio asked him where the ring was that he realised the significance of losing that particular pair of trainers.

“My wedding ring has been stolen as well so needless to say I’m in the bad books at home, so I need to find it,” Murray wrote.

“Yes I know I’m an idiot and in hindsight, it seems like a terrible idea but I need some help. What should the reward be for getting it back?”

Murray’s mother commented on the post with a simple face-palm emoji.

The former British number one and three-time Grand Slam champion is preparing to play at the Indian Wells Master, one of the biggest tennis tournaments outside of the Grand Slams.

He gets his campaign underway on Friday evening when he takes on Adrian Mannarino of France. It’s the first time Murray is playing at the tournament in four years.
