In a first half where Gerard Deulofeu’s stunning individual goal was the highlight on the pitch, in the stands, supporters of both teams produced a stunning light display in support for BBC Tees commentator Ali Brownlee.
Middlesbrough fans that attended the recent game against Huddersfield could be heard chanting the name of Brownlee, who has recently been diagnosed with bowel cancer.
Having put on a similar display at Old Trafford in support of steel workers recently, Boro fans lit up the stadium with their mobile phones in the 33rd minute.
Everton supporters joined in the moving tribute.
