Michael Owen has out-Michael Owen’d himself.
On the same day that the former England striker started babbling random noises live on TV, he came out with the most inane, pointless, vacuous comment of his long and (less than) distinguished stint as a football pundit.
‘Analysing’ Man City’s 2-0 defeat to a very impressive Stoke side, Owen bemoaned the fact that the Premier League title hopefuls had failed to breach the home side’s stubborn rear guard.
But his expert summary of the situation was something else.
“When they [Man City] don’t score, they hardly ever win,” he stated, with a completely straight face.
