A 40-mile long Russian convoy has been spotted via satellite, with many believing it’s heading to the capital city of Ukraine, Kyiv.
A large military convoy has been spotted using satellites, with experts believing that more vehicles are joining the convoy as it travels. BBC journalist Richard Moynihan shared the news on Twitter alongside the caption: “A huge convoy of Russian armoured vehicles, about 40 miles long, is advancing on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv, satellite images show.”

Maxar Technologies, a private U.S. satellite company, said the additional ground force deployments and ground attack helicopter units were first seen in Belarus.
This follows a devastating attack in Okhtyrka, Northeast Sumy, on Monday. Regional governor Dmytro Zhyvytskyy announced the news via Facebook, where he attached a short clip to the post showing untold devastation with piles of debris, burnt-out cars, and destroyed buildings.
Emergency workers are currently sifting through the rubble, but it’s believed that at least 70 Ukrainian soldiers were killed, reports the Mirror.
“Barbaric rocket attacks and MLRS (multiple launch rocket systems) of peaceful cities are evidence that they are no longer able to fight armed Ukrainians,” Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov said on Facebook.
Ceasefire talks between Ukraine and Russia happened yesterday (February 28), but they reportedly failed, and no further talks have been planned.

This comes with continued pressure from the west through various sanctions and aid. Both FIFA and UEFA announced that all Russian teams would be suspended. While they initially sought to have Russia play under another name and another logo, countries like the UK and Sweden flat out refused to play them.
A statement from FIFA reads: “Following the initial decisions adopted by the FIFA Council and the UEFA Executive Committee, which decisions envisaged the adoption of additional measures, FIFA and UEFA have today decided together that all Russian teams, whether national representative teams or club teams, shall be suspended from participation in both FIFA and UEFA competitions until further notice.
“These decisions were adopted today by the Bureau of the FIFA Council and the Executive Committee of UEFA, respectively the highest decision-making bodies of both institutions on such urgent matters.
“Football is fully united here and in full solidarity with all the people affected in Ukraine. Both Presidents hope that the situation in Ukraine will improve significantly and rapidly so that football can again be a vector for unity and peace amongst people.”
