British man with no links to Ukraine and no military experience signs up to fight Russia

‘If I’m this scared and this apprehensive, what are the people over there going through?’

A British man with absolutely no military experience or connection to Ukraine is signing up to help fight the Russian invasion.

Leon Dawson, along with a select group of friends and fellow brave volunteers, were stopped by Sky News when visiting the Ukrainian embassy in London to offer their help.

When asked by the reporter why he wanted to sign up, Dawson – who owns a gym in Surrey – simply said: “They look like they need help. We’re young, strong, fit men – we can help. So, why not?”

Not long after getting the requisite details from the embassy, the 37-year-old quickly began packing, ready to fly out to Ukraine, dishing out gear that he says was lent to him by a friend and former Marine, quipping: “He does want it back, so let’s hope we make it back alive”.

Dawson, along with friend Tom Konarzewski (originally from Poland), were actually just one of many groups who have turned up at the embassy in recent days; it is said that there are already hundreds of Brits volunteering to fight Russia with more expected to follow as the conflict continues.

As you can see below, multiple men turned up to state they were willing to lose their lives in their efforts to help protect the people of Ukraine. One of whom was 60-year-old Brian Grove, who used to serve in the Territorial Army (TA) and given this, added that he had “first-aid training…” and “decided to come and do something”.
