He has been labelled the ‘cover page of American imperialism and colonialism’
Arnold Schwarzenegger is feeling the wrath of Kremlin-run TV channels following his video appeal to Russians to learn the “truth” about what is happening in Ukraine.
On Thursday (March 17), the actor posted a nine-minute long video in which he asked Russians to question what their government was telling them about the Ukraine conflict, and learn about the atrocities being committed by Russian forces in the country.
In the video he said that “those in power in the Kremlin started this war” and that it is “not the Russian people’s war.”
The video, which was posted on Twitter and Telegram with English and Russian subtitles, has racked up millions of views.
Telegram is widely used in Russia, so the video has gained traction in the country.
Unsurprisingly, this has not gone down well with state-run media in Russia, as reported by the Daily Beast.
In an attack on Schwarzenegger in his television show, Sunday Evening With Vladimir Solovievon, host Vadim Gigin said: “That face [Schwarzenegger’s] is the cover page of American imperialism and colonialism.
“Not the caricature image of Uncle Sam, but this Schwarz, in a Hollywood production.
“He, in California, will tell us, who live here… the truth? That is their approach towards us.”

Addressing the second half of the video, where Schwarznegger tells the story of how he was gifted a cup by champion Russian weightlifter Yury Vlasic, which he still uses today, Gigin claimed Schwarzenegger never understood Vlasov.
He continued:“Vlasov couldn’t transfer any of his brain [to Schwarzenegger] with his handshake and the gifted cup.
“Schwarzenegger twice traveled to Iraq to support the American troops and never tried to tell the Iraqi people why they’re being destroyed.”
In response to the Schwarzenegger’s address, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared their own message featuring powerlifting champion Maryana Naumova, who said the American was “living in an alternative, imaginary reality.”
In the almost seven-minute long video, Naumova makes baseless claims that the Ukrainian government is made up of Nazis, saying: “The fact that Mr. Zelensky, as you say, is a Jew, did not help them. Nazism has no nationality, Nazism is not based on the word ‘German.’ And Russophobia is no better than anti-Semitism.”

She goes on to bizarrely compare Russia’s invasion of Ukraine to the plot in Terminator, saying: “Do you remember how in the second part of the Terminator your hero goes back in time to prevent the creation of Skynet, which would bring the death of all mankind?
“Russia’s special military operation does not aim to destroy the Ukrainian people. It is aimed at the neo-Nazi Skynet, which over the years has completely subjugated Ukraine and was about to turn into an uncontrollable monster, dangerous for all of its neighbors, not only for us… Don’t side with Skynet, Terminator.”
