The former WWE star is a fan of the UFC’s newest undisputed featherweight champion.
Just about every media interview in the fight game, this week, has featured the name Conor McGregor.
America is still wafting in the magnificence of the Irishman’s title win in Las Vegas.
Jose Aldo came to shut McGregor’s mouth but got his own shuddered by a KO blow.
We have already shown you how much respect Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has for McGregor. The latest to gush about the new king of the 145lb division is Rey Mysterio. He told Podnasty:
“I had McGregor winning it but I was shocked by how fast he did.
“Aldo’s good, one of the best in the world, but how does somebody get knocked [clicks fingers] like that?
“I don’t know if it was McGregor’s strategy but he did say precision beats power, timing beats speed.
“Like wow, he puts his money where his mouth is and he made Jose Aldo look like a chump.”
Mysterio, who has swapped the WWE glitz for the Lucha Underground promotion, marvelled at the changing of the guard in the UFC.
Where Brazilian fighters dominated as champions, Aldo, Renan Barão and Anderson Silva have all lost belts in the last 18 months. Rafael dos Anjos takes on Donald Cerrone at Fight Night Orlando this weekend.
