The number one contender for Conor McGregor’s UFC featherweight title hosted a Twitter Q&A, in which he made pretty clear his views on the plans of the Notorious to move up to 155lb.
The Dubliner’s dream is to fight lightweight champ Rafael Dos Anjos and become the first man in UFC history to simultaneously hold belts in two divisions.
Unsurprisingly Edgar, the next in line to face McGregor at 145lb, is none too happy with his weight-hopping plans, accusing the champion of being scared of him, “protected by the UFC” and worried about Edgar’s aggressive style.
He also predicted he would win in the fourth round of any future featherweight title bout.
Warming to his task as he was asked more and more questions about McGregor, Edgar seemed to channel a little of his rival’s trash-talking tendencies. In response to a question about McGregor’s heavy fists he claimed he could take “a left from the whole country of Ireland”, before saying he would take his rival’s soul.
