‘Women’s rights are moving backward’
Amber Heard has released a statement mere hours after ex-husband and recent defamation trial victor Johnny Depp created his first TikTok.
The 58-year-old’s first TikTok thanked “treasured, loyal and unwavering” fans for their support throughout his legal issues. The star already has 7.5m followers.
“We have walked the same road together,” he said. “We did the right thing together, all because you cared. And now, we will all move forward together.”

In response, Heard released a statement through Law and Crime reporter Cathy Russon, which read: “As Johnny Depp says he’s ‘moving forward,’ women’s rights are moving backward.”
“The verdict’s message to victims of domestic violence is [to] be afraid to stand up and speak out.”
The comments were predictably vile, with most saying that Heard caused the situation herself.
The 36-year-old’s statement is not dissimilar to her initial speech that circulated after she lost against Depp.

“The disappointment I feel today is beyond words … I’m even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women,” she wrote. “It is a setback. It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated.”
She added: “It sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken seriously.”
While the actual trial is over, things don’t seem to be looking up for the Aquaman star as her lawyer, Elaine Charlson Bredehoft, told the TODAY program that she is unable to pay the fee.
