A move to Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace would be “perfect” for Emmanuel Adebayor, according to one of the manager’s former charges.
Joey Barton, who played under Pardew at Newcastle United, believes the Englishman’s coaching style would be ideal for the 31-year-old striker.
Adebayor has been unnatached since cancelling his contract with Tottenham, and is thought to be in talks with Palace over a January move.
“I think he’s the kind of player that looks like he needs a manager to put his arm round him,” Barton said on BT Sport’s Fletch & Sav show.
“He’s done well for Harry Redknapp in the past – managers who’ve got their arm round and given him a bit of love.
“I think Pardew’s perfect. He’s a really good man-manager and will definitely get goals out of him.”
