Action star Dolph Lundgren has married his personal trainer and partner
Action star and icon of cinema Dolph Lundgren, 65, has married his personal trainer and fiancée Emma Krokdal, aged 27.
The actor, best known for his turn as Rocky Balboa’s boxing rival Ivan Drago in the Rocky and Creed films, married Emma in their Mykonos villa this week, surrounded by their family and friends.
Lundgren told People: “We chose to celebrate our love by getting married at our villa in Mykonos with family and a few close friends.
“With both Covid and a long road of challenging medical treatments, we’ve had to push our marriage plans many times.
“We felt it was finally the right time to celebrate love, life and happiness – in the land of the Gods.”
The happy news comes after the Swedish actor revealed he has been battling cancer for the last eight years.
Opening up about his diagnosis in May, he said the first tumour was discovered in his kidney around eight years ago, but the cancer has since spread to his liver, lungs and spine.
He has revealed the first tumour was discovered in 2015, before an MRI in 2020 found more tumours around his body.
Speaking on In Depth With Graham Bensinger, Lundgren said: “At that point, it started to hit me that this is kinda something serious.”
He was told that the tumour had become ‘too big’ for surgery, and was undergoing other forms of therapy which affected his overall health.
The actor said: “So I kinda asked him y’know ‘how long do you think I have got left?’ I think he said two or three years but I could tell in his voice that he probably thought it was less.”
