A roundabout is becoming somewhat of an internet sensation
The so-called Magic Roundabout in Swindon has long been feared by nervous drivers, but recently it has become a tourist attraction.
It first opened back in 1972, and is made up of five mini roundabouts surrounding a larger roundabout that moves anti-clockwise.
Local residents aren’t massive fans of the junction, rather understandably. Many have deemed it dangerous and a place where accidents are just waiting to happen.
However, from the looks of the roundabout’s TripAdvisor page, visitors seem to be making specific trips to see the junction for themselves.
In one review of the location, one visitor wrote: “Of all the multiple roundabout configurations we have visited, this is surely the world’s greatest.
A fantastic day out for all the family.”
A second put: “Fabulous way of keeping traffic moving and the best swindon has to offer. It takes nerves, concentration and pure determination to conquer this amazing attraction the best 32 seconds of fun you can have in Swindon.”
“Well known roundabout. There are similar in other parts of the country. hamel Hampstead and Colchester have similar but not as exciting,” another wrote.
“This is a glorious piece of history not to be missed,” a fourth penned. “A great family day out full of weird and wonderful experiences.
“If you are really lucky you may even see a learner driver navigating their way through it, or a oldie but goldie – A bus driver driving straight through with no care for other drivers.
“To summarise – a fun filled day that you could revisit on a daily occasion.”
