Is long-awaited glory just around the corner?
To say Everton are the sleeping giants of English football is an understatement. Traditionally they were always one of the ‘big five’ clubs in the land, along with Liverpool, Man United, Arsenal and Tottenham.
But whilst the others have enjoyed relative success in recent decades (or in the case of Spurs look to be a real power again), the Toffees have floundered with debt and misfortune.
But that may all be about to change thanks to mega-rich Iranian tycoon and former Arsenal investor Farhad Moshiri ploughing some of his vast fortune into purchasing 49.9% of the club.
The arrival of the Persian billionaire certainly has the Goodison Park faithful dreaming big about who might be joining the club in the near future (even if there’s a hint of tongue in cheek to it all)…
Oh it's a terrible time being a blue when we've got more money than u, oh Everton were all laughing at you 🐸☕️ pic.twitter.com/MRPyt60VbG
