Beloved Cadbury Christmas treat that disappeared for a decade set to return again this year

Chocoholics, rejoice

An iconic Cadbury treat which returned to shelves last year after almost a decade away will once again be back this Christmas.

In news that is sure to delight chocolate fans, the chocolatier is once again bringing back its much-loved Dairy Milk Chocolate Coins.

The iconic product was discontinued back in 2014, disappointing sweet-toothed Brits across the UK, as they lamented the loss of the iconic, shiny, stocking-fillers.

Some were so devastated by the product’s scrapping that an online petition was launched to bring it back.

Cadbury blamed a drop in sales for discontinuing the product, as customers switched to cheaper, supermarket own brand coins.

But last year, due to overwhelming popular demand, the delightful treat steeped in nostalgia and cherished memories returned to shelves across the country after almost a decade away.

And Cadbury Dairy Milk Coins will once again be available to buy this Christmas, with bags of them already flying off shelves.

The coins can be picked up for as little as £1.65 from B&M, Poundland, Iceland and Asda, along with in Tesco with a Clubcard, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Whilst they are slightly more expensive than the supermarket own-brand alternatives, many chocoholics will argue this is worth the price for that recognisable Cadbury taste.

Gabriella Sargeant, junior brand manager at Cadbury, said: “Cadbury chocolate coins are a cherished Christmas tradition that brings generations together, one delicious foil-wrapped treat at a time.

“After nearly a decade off the shelves, these beloved chocolate coins are making their second consecutive return. Relive the nostalgia and joy of these timeless treasures as they make another festive comeback.”

The coins aren’t the only festive chocolate Cadbury are releasing this festive season. Along with all the usual selection boxes and sharing tubs, five new Cadbury products are hitting shelves for Christmas.

These are Cadbury Mini Puds, a Mini Snowballs Bar, a Cadbury 200 Year Selection Box, a new Cadbury Dairy Milk Creamy Advent Calendar, and a Toblerone Truffles & Tiny’s Advent Calendar.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of other stocking fillers along with the chocolate coins, including the Dairy Milk Chocolate Santa, Cadbury Mini Snowballs and Cadbury Dairy Milk Mint Crisp Bar.
