What a difference a week makes.
Just seven days ago, Conor McGregor was sitting pretty, behind only Jon Jones and Demetrious Johnson in the pound-for-pound rankings.
The reigning UFC featherweight champion may not have been defending his title on Saturday night but his defeat to Nate Diaz has seen him plummet down the list.
‘The Notorious’ has dropped past Luke Rockhold, Dominick Cruz, Fabricio Werdum, Rafael dos Anjos and Robbie Lawler to eighth spot in the rankings.
There aren’t many huge jumps elsewhere but Frankie Edgar has moved up two spots, despite not fighting at the weekend, while new UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate takes her place in the pound-for-pound top fifteen for the first time in her career.
The rankings are voted on by media members after each UFC event and McGregor’s top spot status at 145 lbs understandably went unaffected in this week’s update due to the fact that he wasn’t defending his title and was fighting at welterweight for the first time.
