Is Game of Thrones finally coming to Netflix?

Nooruddean Choudry

Could it actually be happening?

Game of Thrones is of course one of the most popular and revered shows in the world, and many Netflix users out there would dearly love to watch it on the streaming site.

So far it has been a complete no-go. HBO have their own mobile viewing service in the States called HBO Go, and thus far all their major shows have been exclusively available on there.

But on Friday, Netflix Brazil tweeted a message that seemed to suggest that was all about to change. It read (in Portuguese): ‘The unbelievable has happened. All #GoT episodes on Netflix’

The link in the tweet was down as soon as it was put up. No doubt excited fans were desperate to read the full story and crashed the site. And of course ‘the unbelievable has happened’ and the #GoT hashtag would lead everyone to think it referred to Game of Thrones.

Now we are fully aware that it is April Fools’ Day, but surely a major corporation such as Netflix would not be quite so stupid as to alienate and anger their customers with such potentially exciting news? It would be a marketing disaster if it was a prank, surely?

We’ll sceptical, but we’ll keep a close eye on developments.
