Johan Cruyff was arguably the most influential person in football’s modern history.
The Dutchman is regarded at a legend everywhere he went, but perhaps no club holds him in higher regard than Spanish giants Barcelona.
Cruyff joined the Catalans as a player in 1973 and spent five seasons at the club, being named European footballer of the year in 1974.
In 1988, he returned to Camp Nou as a coach and won Barca their first European Cup in 1992. During his time there, he coached future managers Pep Guardiola, Ronald Koeman and Michael Laudrup as well as Manchester City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain.
Barcelona already announced they would be wearing special shirts to honour Cruyff during Saturday night’s game at Camp Nou, and before kick off showed their support with this beautiful display.
