It’s what separates the great players from the very good. For a player to score over 30 goals in one season is a considerable feat, but Cristiano Ronaldo has made it look easy the past few seasons.
The Real Madrid forward scored his side’s third against Eibar on Saturday afternoon, and in the process set a truly unique record.
Ronaldo, already the club’s record goalscorer, became the first player in the history of the top four European leagues – Spain, Italy, Germany and England – to score over 30 goals in six consecutive seasons.

Dave Halliday, who played for Sunderland in the 1920’s, scored over 30 goals in four consecutive seasons; Jimmy Greaves did it with Tottenham in the 1960s for four consecutive seasons; and Lionel Messi has also achieved the feat across four seasons.
The goal that set the record wasn’t a classic from Ronaldo, but the record he set will take something special to beat in the coming years.
