This own goal is so bad you’ll swear it’s from your FIFA nightmares

We still don't know how it's possible.

Sometimes an own goal is so bad it defies belief.

This weekend saw the start of the OFC Champions League – a championship that sees the best sides across New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Tahiti, Fiji, the Solomon Islands and New Caledonia battle it out to sort out the best of the best.

Although when sides are making gaffes like this maybe “best” isn’t the word we’re looking for.

AS Tefana-Own Goal

AS Tefana goalkeeper Michael Roche is the man behind one of the best (worst?) own goals we’ve ever seen, curling in a shot from an impossible angle from a shanked goal kick.

A real striker’s finish that.

If you conceded a goal like that when playing FIFA, you’d probably claim the game was broken and reset everything. We wouldn’t blame you either.

You can catch full highlights of the game, which saw AS Tefana come out as 6-1 winners over Fijian side Nadi in the video below.

Despite the own goal, we’re going to root for AS Tefana to come out on top in the tournament. Go on boys!
