This is the proof Adebayo Akinfenwa is the world’s strongest footballer

The man is an actual beast...

Ben Kenyon

We probably would have just taken his word for it, but Adebayo Akinfenwa has proved he’s the strongest footballer in the world.

The Wimbledon FC striker earned this title thanks to the FIFA games because of his sheer size and strength.

While most Premier League footballers are busy falling over and feigning injury, the 16-stone behemoth is giving terrified defenders the battering ram treatment.

But now the monstrous forward, who famously scored against Liverpool in the FA Cup, has gone and showed exactly why he’s the footballing strongman champion of the world in the only sensible way possible – with a bench press challenge with #FootballersLives.

Just so you can fully appreciate his freakish strength on the bench,  #FootballersLives handily equated it to the weight of well-known footballers, creatures from the animal kingdom and Diego Costa.

He gets his pecs warmed up, casually pressing Liverpool legend Steven Gerard’s bodyweight of 80kg.

It’s not long before he’s hitting triple figures and getting under some big weights – like 160kg, which is the equivalent of two truculent Chelsea strikers.

Then he maxes out at an insane 180kg – which apparently is what two Yaya Toures would weigh – even cranking out an extra rep just for good measure.

Hitting a cheeky double at that weight, we reckon he’s got at least a double John Hartson (185kg) in him and maybe even a Chris Samba x2 in him (202kg).

We’d like to see any other pro footballers have a crack at this…
