First we get the news Bart Simpson will be executed by maniac Sideshow Bob in an upcoming episode of The Simpsons – now it is revealed Homer has his eye turned.
Together since the sitcom started in 1989, Homer and Marge Simpson are one of TV’s longest and most solid couples – but not for much longer, as viewers will see the couple legally separate.
The story will see Homer – who has three children with Marge – betray his wife in the worst way possible by falling in love with a pharmacist, played by Girls writer and actress Lena Dunham.
Al Jean, the show’s producer, told Variety: “In the premiere, it’s discovered after all the years Homer has narcolepsy and it’s an incredible strain on the marriage. Homer and Marge legally separate, and Homer falls in love with his pharmacist, who’s voiced by Lena Dunham. We’ll have cameos from the other women from ‘Girls.'”
Seeing as Bart will only be killed off for a one-off Halloween special, fans believe the pair’s split also won’t be permanent, although for some, both will be make for some difficult viewing.

And then there are those who think it is time for the writers to bite the bullet…
The Simpsons – in my opinion anyway – died a long time ago. Lena Dunham's cameo, however, is the equivalent of shitting on the grave.
