Liverpool’s Mario Balotelli headache may finally have a remedy

Not so super Mario.

Jurgen Klopp may be down to just two fit strikers for the rest of the season, but we doubt Mario Balotelli even crossed his mind once in the last week.

Divock Origi’s injury leaves Liverpool with Daniel Sturridge and Christian Benteke as their frontmen for the last few games of the campaign, and this week’s first leg of the Europa League semi-final.

They may be short on options, but still not desperate enough to even be thinking of the Italian, who is currently on loan at AC Milan.

The striker has impressed in patches, but disappointed mostly on his second spell at the San Siro.

He is due back at Anfield this summer, but only to clear out his locker according to the Daily Mail.

The player is understood to somehow impressed coaches enough at the club to be offered a permanent deal in Serie A.

The 25-year-old has told media in Italy he has no interest in returning to Merseyside, and despite scoring just one goal this year, the Rossoneri are keen to keep him at the club.

The former Manchester City man has been told he will not feature under Jurgen Klopp, and a deal for him to remain in Italy is likely to be discussed in the coming weeks.

The only issue will be if Liverpool can claw back any of the £16million they paid for him in 2014 from the Serie A side.
