We’ve been hearing betting stories all year. 5,000/1 and all that. Idiots cashing out at the wrong time.
What about the supporters though? The real supporters.
The ones who have probably been following the clubs their whole lives. The ones who probably thought the highs of Martin O’Neill’s League Cup successes were as good as it gets. That Nigel Pearson’s great escape was as bold as a Leicester team could dare to be.
Ones who have probably seen it all but still can’t believe just what they are seeing now.
Match of the Day 2 showed a clip of two elderly gentlemen in the stands celebrating Leicester City’s victory and it was truly something special. We know what this story means for football but now we can see exactly what it means to the people.
What a touching moment.
We may never see the like of it again.
