Conor McGregor has dealt with the Floyd Mayweather megafight rumours in typical McGregor fashion…by demanding a shit load of money.
McGregor pointed to the Mayweather camp for first leaking the story of a potential fight, during an interview on ESPN’s SportsCenter.
But talk of what percentage of the purse each fighter would get has clearly got McGregor’s back up, and he came out swinging on the unbeaten (and now retired) boxer.
When asked if the whole story was real, the Irishman quipped back “I hear the boy talking.”
The UFC featherweight champion wasn’t best pleased at suggestions that Mayweather would get $100m and he would get $7m.

“That’s a pay cut to me. I don’t take pay cuts. I thought boxing was where the money was at.
“Seven million is absolutely laughable. He talking 100 million, I’m also talking 100 million.
“I’m 27 years of age. I’m just about half way through a £100m contract. At 27 years of age Floyd Mayweather was on Oscar De La Hoya’s undercard, so compare that.
“He’s getting old now. I’ve got the size, I’ve got the reach, I’ve got the height, I’ve got the youth.
“He needs me. I don’t need him.”
McGregor, who is still to nail down details of his rematch with Nate Diaz, says he’s willing to talk with Mayweather.

But whether any potential match-up would be boxing or something else doesn’t seem to trouble McGregor.
“I don’t really care about rules. He can make all the rules he wants.
“I know he would not want to fight in a mixed martial arts contest – in a true fight.
“If you want to fight in a limited fight, it’s no problem, we can do that.
“I will set aside many other forms of fighting that I practice in and will focus on one particular craft.
“I’m in the game of spinning plates.
“I’m spinning a boxing plate, I’m spinning a taekwondo plate, I’m spinning a jiu-jitsu plate, I’m spinning a freestyle wrestling plate, a karate plate.
“If I was to put all these down and have one boxing plate spinning, it would be like a load off my shoulders.”
