No blaze, no flames, there wasn’t so much as a spark of Will Grigg on Sunday afternoon.
In case you hadn’t heard, Will Grigg is on fire… and your defence, whoever they may be, is terrified.
One defence that wasn’t terrified was that of Poland as Lukasz Piszczek, Kamil Glik, Michal Pazdan and Artur JÄ™drzejczyk weren’t in the least bit frightened due to the fact that Grigg remained on the bench for the Group C opener against Northern Ireland.
The Wigan striker, whose name has slipped in perfectly to the 1990s Gala hit ‘Freed from Desire’ in an adaptation that is sweeping through France, was not called upon by Michael O’Neill despite the fact that his side was chasing a goal late on.
Grigg sat, smouldering, on the bench and Poland won 1-0. And Northern Ireland fans were absolutely furious.
Northern Ireland thought they could get a result without playing Will Grigg???? Madness #EURO2016
