One of the best strikers on the planet, the world champions… on paper, Germany vs Poland should have been a good watch.
But with an hour played in Saint Denis, there wasn’t all that much to write home about. No goals, no testicle-sniffing managers – nothing.
But when Robert Lewandowski found himself one on one against Manuel Neuer it seemed the game was finally about to get its first goal. Anyone with even the faintest knowledge of European football in recent years knows that he just doesn’t miss when in this situation and in fairness, he *didn’t* miss – he wasn’t given the chance to.
Just as the Pole was about to pull the trigger, Jerome Boateng pulled off a pretty special last-ditch tackle.
Have a look at the thirty second mark in the clip below.

Boateng, one of several of Lewandowski’s Bayern Munich teammates in the German line-up, had already made a headline or two for his goal-line clearance against Ukraine in Jogi Low’s men’s Euro 2016 opener on Sunday.
In many ways, this was even more impressive.
Oh my word, what a tackle from Boateng!!! #GER #EURO2016

Boateng with an enormous tackle, sensational, probably saves a goal with Lewa in on goal #GERPOL

Good job Lewandowski doesn’t have to play against Boateng in the Bundesliga.
