Cristiano Ronaldo approves as cheeky mascot flicks Austria the ‘V’

For victory

Patrick McCarry

Cristiano Ronaldo appreciates a cocky youngster when he beholds one.

There was no ‘small mentality’ from the impish Uefa mascot that lined up beside the Portugal captain ahead of their Euro 2016 Group F encounter with Austria.

Ronaldo, who became Portugal’s highest capped player [128 appearances] during tonight’s match, walked into the tunnel to line up opposite the Austrians.

As he took his place, the bespectacled youth was busy flipping the bird at the Austrians.

We prefer to think he was flashing the Churchillian ‘V’ for victory sign. Whatever it was, a grinning Ronaldo approved.
