This sick Aaron Ramsey burn seems too good to be true – and it probably is

Spurs fans and England fans mugged off in one fell swoop?

Call the fire brigade to the England squad hotel, because someone needs to pour water on this sick burn from Aaron Ramsey.

His hair might be the colour of a tub of homebrand Asda ice cream, but his burns are hot like… I don’t know, fire from a Welsh dragon.

Ramsey has been widely quoted on Twitter as saying “It’s nice to finish above Tottenham again” in response to a question from a reporter on how it felt to finish above England in Group B of EURO 2016.

The banter, it’s almost too much to handle.

Except that… it looks like Aaron Ramsey never uttered the “quote” that is being widely shared on Twitter.

The phrase seems to have first appeared on Reddit yesterday, and wasn’t attributed to a source.

And no newspaper or reporter has quoted Ramsey as saying “It’s nice to finish above Tottenham again”.

It’s not mentioned anywhere on Ramsey’s social media, and he hasn’t done a press conference since topping the group with Wales.

So, as the rule goes, if it seems too good to be true, then it probably is.
