July can be a tough time for football fans.
We’ve been absolutely spoiled for choice over the last 11 months, with Leicester City’s thrilling run to the Premier League title being quickly followed by an expanded European Championships.
But now there are just three games remaining at Euro 2016 and we’re set to have a barren run for the rest of the month. Instead we have to cling onto any football news we can for enjoyment.
Transfer rumours are fine for a day or two but pretty quickly you can find yourself developing massive conspiracies as the paper stack up false rumour upon false rumour.
So what do we have in these trying times? The release of each team’s new kit, of course.
Manchester City released theirs quietly enough alongside a total revamp of the entire club, while Borussia Dortmund impressed with a stylish away number. And it’s not just the football teams who are impressing.
But as far as next season’s look for Southampton goes, we could take it or leave it.
We give the Saints full marks for picking a sponsor whose logo’s colour scheme fits in with the candystripes of their kit, but they immediately lose marks for the whole “rugby training top” look.
