Plan A certainly didn’t work for the Remain campaign, and things don’t look too good for Plan B either.
A petition to rerun the Brexit referendum, originally held on June 23, has been rejected despite its popularity.
Over four million people had signed the online petition asking for a second referendum if either side won with less than a 60% majority with a turnout smaller than 75%.
The UK voted to leave the EU by a very slim margin of 51.9% to 48.1%.
The British government have now formally rejected the petition, with the Foreign Office saying “The Prime Minister and government have been clear that this was a once in a generation vote and, as the Prime Minister has said, the decision must be respected.”
