It’s all change at Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
Not content with having turned the French league into a boring one horse race every year, they’ve parted company with Laurent Blanc. In his place, PSG have appointed Unai Emery as manager – y’know, the guy from Sevilla that looks a bit like Matthew McConaughey.
Although taking charge of a team that wins their domestic league at a canter might seem like a cushy number for Emery, it’s not always as straightforward as it seems.
As David Moyes will probably testify, inheriting a league-winning squad full of highly-paid individuals doesn’t always go to plan. Losing the dressing-room is still possible even at this level.
Perhaps with this in mind, Emery doesn’t appear to be going to hard on his new crop of players in his first few weeks with them. Instead of stamping his authority over David Luiz et al during a punishing pre-season on the training ground, he’s opted to take them white-water rafting instead.

The PSG squad are currently in Schladming in Austria as they kick off their preseason and their rafting trip apparently followed a training session. Later in summer, they’re scheduled to cross the Atlantic to take part in the International Champions Cup in America.
