On the surface, Twitter Q&A sessions are a lovely way for professional footballers to interact with their adoring fans.
Sadly though, they don’t always ( / never) go to plan.  For example, we all remember what happened when Jack Wilshere decided to field a few questions earlier in the year.
Still, undeterred by this, the good folk behind Tottenham’s Twitter account decided that – with the season just around the corner -they’d rope Dele Alli into a Q&A session on Wednesday afternoon.

Alli enjoyed a hugely successful 2015/16 and was crowned PFA Young Player of the Year at the end of the season. Unfortunately for him though, he couldn’t replicate the form he showed in a Spurs shirt when he reached the European Championships in France. The 20-year-old was part of the England side that were humiliated by Iceland in the last 16 of Euro 16.
Predictably, many of those who clocked him doing the Q&AÂ couldn’t resist asking him about what happened to him and his international teammates earlier in summer.
Why did you disappear at the Euros? #AskDele

You got picked for the euros. Why didn't you turn up ? Did you fall down the gap ? #AskDele

Did you enjoy all the football you watched close up at the Euros? How do you get on the pitch without being asked to play? #AskDele

Where were you hiding during the euros? #AskDele

Football fans: nothing if not predictable.
Still at least it wasn’t all about the Euros. There was this, for example:

And also this, from Spurs teammate and Austria international, Kevin Wimmer.

With his Euro woes behind him, Alli will probably feature in Tottenham’s opener at Everton this weekend.
