Perhaps it’s Rio 2016. Perhaps it’s the fact that we’ve seen McGregor vs. Diaz take place so recently. Or perhaps it’s the quality of the undercard. But there seems to be considerably less hype than expected around Saturday night’s UFC 202.
The promotion will be hopeful of turning that around once two of their most quotable commodities step in front of the camera on Wednesday night.
Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz will be wheeled out in front of a Las Vegas crowd in the hope that they recreate some of the gold they produced at their first press conference in the run-up to UFC 196
Co-headliners Anthony Johnson and Glover Teixeira, as well as UFC president Dana White, will also be in attendance but we reckon they’ll be relatively idle as the vast majority of questions will be directed at ‘The Notorious’ and the Stockton-slapping fan favourite.
This is the time for the buzz to be booted up a gear and we’d be surprised if something newsworthy doesn’t appear before our very eyes.
The action gets underway at 9pm but given this pair’s proclivity for tardiness, we wouldn’t hold our breath.
