Here’s why you’ll notice letters missing in big companies’ logos this week

It's for a very worthy cause

Brands like Google, Microsoft and XBOX are dropping letters from their names this week.

It’s all part of a genius campaign from the NHS – who want to get hundreds of thousands more people to sign up to donate blood.

The reason particular letters are missing is to encourage people with certain blood types – for example, O, A and B – to register to give blood.

It’s not just the UK that’s taking part. Companies in Ireland, such as our brother site JOE.ie, have taken part too, and companies as far afield as America and Canada are getting involved.

Around 200,000 volunteers are needed just in England alone, so now’s the time to sign up.

To give blood you need to be between 17-65, and you can create an online account to register.

Donors are needed especially from blood groups like O negative and A negative, younger and black and South Asian donors.
