The boy can sing, we’ll give him that.
You’d do well to find two more divisive subjects in the entertainment industry than James Corden and Coldplay so chances are you’ll either love what’s about to follow… or absolutely hate it.
The Late Late Show host teamed up with the band at a live show in Los Angeles this week, joining them on stage to perform a cover version of ‘Nothing Compares 2 U,’ a Prince original made famous by Sinead O’Connor.
The funnyman is introduced to the stage by Chris Martin as the ‘missing and best member’ of Coldplay, and it’s fair to say he looked pretty nervous about the 90,000+ capacity venue he found himself standing in.
The band asked him to perform with them in a tribute to Prince, who died in April of this year. You’d be hard-pressed to find an artist or band that wasn’t influenced and inspired by the legendary pop star, so it’s no surprise that many of them have paid homage to him during live shows in the months since his passing.
Corden has a stage and musical background and demonstrates that he’s well able to sing here; it’s worth a listen, but you’ll probably know straight away whether or not this version is your cup of tea.
