Everton’s newest player made sure to change his profile picture as soon as he signed

He was posing with Steven Gerrard in the original.

Well, this is awkward.

It was hardly the biggest move of the summer when Enner Valencia joined Everton in the final hours of transfer deadline day on a season-long loan deal from West Ham.

But somehow, the Ecuadorian forward’s transfer has become a bit of a circus already, after Swansea announced his arrival on their website despite the fact that – as we just mentioned – he had actually signed for Everton.

So with one controversy already happening in his name, the striker wanted to make sure he started life at Goodison Park on good terms. To do this, he had to quickly change the profile picture on his official Facebook page.

Valencia opted for a photo of him playing for Ecuador, instead of his previous photo, in a move that shouldn’t upset anyone.

So why did he have to change it?

Well, here’s Valencia’s previous photo – which features him posing happily beside Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard…

Valencia probably concluded that it wasn’t worth a potential headache to be seen posing alongside a hero of Everton’s rival club.

Although he didn’t care enough to delete it from his page, and anyone who is willing to scroll back just one profile photo will be able to find it.

But at the end of the day, it really makes no difference to his ability to play for the Toffees so ¯_(ツ)_/¯.
