Let’s make this clear right from the off – this one really isn’t for the faint-hearted. You have been warned.
Young Dario Scuderi faces a long road to recovery after breaking his leg on Wednesday afternoon.
The 18-year-old Borussia Dortmund full-back, who has represented Italy at youth level, suffered the injury while playing in his club’s 2-0 Uefa Youth League victory away at Legia Warsaw.
15 minutes into the match, with his side leading by a goal, Scuderi attempted to tackle an opponent on the edge of his own area. With his left foot appearing to be caught in the turf, the collision with the Legia player caused his leg to buckle at the knee joint.
The following images show the extent of the injury. Again, as we told you at the top of this article, proceed with caution if you’re the squeamish type.

Scuderi was instantly stretchered off after the injury and taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Although Scuderi’s injury is clearly long term, at this stage, it’s difficult to establish exactly how long he will be out of action for with the damage sustained to his knee joint likely to complicate matters.
Needless to say, we wish the youngster a speedy recovery. A truly horrendous injury.
