If West Ham wanted people to view their performances this season as high art, they may be part of the way there.
Dimitri Payet’s stunning solo goal ended the club’s four-match losing run in the Premier League, earning them a point against Middlesbrough and winning over Phil Thompson…and then some.
It was a phenomenal goal. Perhaps the best scored by anyone in the Premier League this season, and it showed Payet still has plenty in his locker even after an eye-catching debut season in England and a starring role in France’s run to the Euro 2016 final.
And it seems one fan was so awestruck by the Frenchman’s efforts that he thought he was watching the opera. At least that’s the only reason we can think of why he was watching the game like this.

Anyone who has been to the London Stadium will know it is not quite as compact as West Ham’s previous home at the Boleyn Ground.
The dug-out is set far back from the pitch, leaving both managers breaking a sweat by the time they’ve made it out to their technical area.
There’s a fair bit of empty space, but binoculars might be a bit much.
And it seems he wasn’t the first – this photo was taken during West Ham’s defeat at home to Southampton last weekend.
